There are many cryptids out there.  Some seem to be so far out there they are hared to believe.  However others seem to be a few on  the tipping point of being discovered.  One of those creatures is the fabled Orang Pendek.

The Orang Pendek is said to be a small humanoid creature which resembles Sasquatch, only shorter.  The creature resides on the island of Sumatra near Indonesia.  It is said to only be a few feet tall, bipedal and covered in short brown or grey fur.  It is mostly herbivorous feeding on mostly plants, nuts, and fruits.

The Orang Penkek may not be myth however.  In recent years there has been a plethora of hair, feces, footprints and other evidence of it’s existence.  This is all due to a few intrepid explorers such as Debbie Martyr, Dr. Peter Tse.  However the person I want to touch on is Adam Davies.  Adam Davies has searched for not only the Orang Pendek but other cryptids as well.  His main focus remains on the Orang Pendek, and every year he gets a little closer.  Adam is currently awaiting to get evidence tested for DNA which he hopes will result in definite proof of the Orang Pendek.  My hopes are with him and his search.  Check him out on the newest episode of B.O.A Audio

But what could the Orang Pendek be?  Many say it’s like a little bigfoot but is it.  Perhaps it will just a new kind of ape or monkey.  Even if it turns out to be none more then a monkey I would be ok with that and if it’s something more I would really be ok with that.

UFO Over Crest Woods in England-  There seems to have been a rather substantial UFO sighting in England this week.

This is a tale about two men.  One a well known magician and cultist from the early 20th century.  The other a super genius of rocket science who is responsible for modern space exploration.  I’m talking of course of Alister Crowley and Jack Parsons.  What do these two man who at first glance could not be anymore different have in common?  Well for starters they may be responsible for bringing things into this world that we now consider paranormal.

Anyone even remotely interested in the paranormal has at least heard of Alister Crowley.  Crowley was born into a wealthy family on October 12th 1875.  He died at the age of 75 on December 1st 1947.  I could go on and on about Crowley’s many exploits but for the sake of this story I’m going to focus on one specific event.

In the year of 1918 beginning in January and continuing through March of that same year Crowley began The Amalantrah Working.  During these rituals Crowley claimed to have made contact with a being called Lam.  Lam is not really a single being but rather a type of being or possibly a race.  Crowley even unveiled a picture, which he said was a portrait of an actual interdimsional being at his Dead Souls Exhibition in 1919.  Crowley kept very quit about lam, however a few interested parties continued to seek out Lam and his secrets, by creating their own cults of Lam

Why does Lam spark so much interest?  Will if you haven’t looked at the picture yet Lam looks pretty much like a Grey.  Are people seeing aliens in the sky or begins summoned from another dimension?  There are certainly weirder explanations out there.

Where does Jack Parsons fit into all this.  Will not only was Parson’s a rocket scientist but also a believer in magic and a huge follower of Crowley, in fact Crowley himself chose Jack to lead one of his agape lodges of OTO in 1942.  Parson’s was born on October 2nd 1914.  Not only were Crowley and Parson’s both born in early October but they were both born into wealthy families.  Parson’s would grow up to become a brilliant scientist who would go on to invent solid rocket fuel the missing ingredient to space exploration.  Jack saw no quandaries to his love of science and magic he would even recite Crowley’s hymn to the greek god Pan.

Following in Crowley’s footsteps Parson started the Babylon Working, a continuation of Alister Crowley’s Amalantrah Working.  Along with is partner in magic L. Ron Hubbard (yep, that’s right) Parson’s started the working in March of 1946.  The purpose of this ritual was to summon Parson’s “Scarlet Woman” which would help him summon a Moon Child.  You can find out more about both of  these rituals there’s just to much to get into here.  What if Parsons did open a portal as Crowley did years earlier was he able to close it?  Some say no, he was not.  If he couldn’t or didn’t close it what or whom got through?

Alister Crowley died in 1947 of purposed respiratory infection.  Crowley’s doctor died a day later, rumor’s surfaced that the good doctor had cut crowley off of his morphine (which he had become somewhat addicted to) so Crowley put a curse on him.  Jack Parsons would leave this world on June 15th 1952 after a chemical explosion in his basement.  Parson’s death also sparked rumors of a magic ritual gone wrong or maybe suicide.

Did Crowley, his followers and Jack Parson’s open portals to another world?  And if they did, did these things get though? If so it would explain a great many things.  The time line of the modern Alien and ufo sightings does seem to match up.  Only a little over a year later Kenneth Arnold would have his famous sighting and then Roswell would break.  Shortly after the sci-fi wave would start and breed even more tales of strangeness some possibly with a grain of truth to them.  Of course a lot of hardcore researcher’s of UFO’s would turn there nose up at this story it is an angle the must be considered.  As I said in my post about cryptids a couple of weeks back in a world such as the paranormal where there are little answers,  you need all the angles you can get.

Before Roswell, even before Kenith Arnold claimed the term “flying saucers” there was a strange object in the sky over St. Paris Ohio.  This sighting intrigues me because it’s local.  I live about half an hour from St. Paris.

On a spiring day in 1932 George Sutton posed for a picture on the side of a dirt road near St. Paris Ohio.  When the picture was developed there seemed to be a weird object in the sky.  Many say that it’s nothing more then a streetlight.  However that Sutton family has said that there were no street lamps on that road.  I can attest to the more rural roads around here and no, they wouldn’t have lights.  Did the Suttons catch an alien craft on film way before the whole UFO craze started sweeping our nation?  Also, when did the notice it?  Was is right away or was it not until years later after flying saucer’s started showing up more and more that the strange object in the picture was picked up on?

Jack Angel may sound like the name of a super spy or hard boiled detective, he is not.  Actually Mr. Angel used to be a door to door salesman, who specialized in selling cloths.  Angel lived in a motor home, it was easier because of all the traveling he had to do for his job.  Jack Angel however, is more than a clothing salesman, he is a survivor of spontaneous human combustion (SHC).

On the night of November 12th 1974 Jack Angel fell asleep in his camper at a motel parking lot somewhere in Savannah Georgia.  Angel slept for four days (I wish I could sleep for four days) and when he awoke his skin was covered in burns.  The burns covered his arms, wrist, back and had even burned a whole from the inside out on his chest.  Looking around he found no evidence of a fire.  Nothing in the mobile home was burnt, even the cloths he was wearing appeared to be fine.  Scared to death, he left  his mobile home and made a bee-line for the hotel were he collapsed on the floor

Day’s later Angel woke up in a hospital.  The doctors had no idea and no answers for Jack, other then the burning appeared to start in his left arm.

A year later Jack Angel changed his story and told his attorny (perhaps trying for some workman’s comp).  In 1975 Angel now said he had scolded himself while trying to change the water pressure of his mobile home.  Was Jack Angel a lucky survivor of SHC, or just guy who didn’t know how to fix his mobile home?

SHC has been reported for years and to this day no real explanation has been given.  Sure there are a few out there but none really explain anything.  The wick effect is the most popular one.  The wick effect essentially says the our cloths absorb fat from out bodes and turn us into a sort of candle.  However the results of testing the wick effect never seems to reproduce the same results as the scene of SHC.  There is also the theory that SHC happens because of a huge build up of Static electricity.  Can our bodies build up enough static electricity to simple turn our bodies into ash?  It doesn’t seem likely to me but it makes more sense the wick effect.  Whatever the reason it does not take away the freighting thought of SHC.  Who cares how one simply catches fire and burns to a crisp, just knowing that it can happen is enough for me.

This is a book that everyone needs to read.  Diaries of The Dark Side by Cassidy O’Conner recounts the story of a family terrorized by their possessed grandson.  The book  (or at least the eBook) is only 99 pages but Cassidy packs a lot into those 99 pages.  She goes from how she became to be involved in the case, to the exposing the less then genuine paranormal investagators who wanted to use the family’s case only for monetary gain, all the way to the end of the whole ordeal.

There one thing to keep in mind while reading this book is that is not a blueprint for dealing with demons.  For that reason Cassidy leaves most of the nitty-gritty techniques and details out of the book.  She steresses many times that this is not a how-to book and for good reason.  In short, don’t meddle with what you don’t understand.  She also changes the names of everyone in the book and discloses no real locations, to insure the families privacy.

The story is that of Daniel a young boy who lives with his grandparents.  The family builds a new house on some property.  As soon as building begins things start to happen, accidents, suicides and deaths.  Then something seem to be having an odd effect on young Daniel.   He becomes incresingly  violent often exhibiting tremendous strength.  His pyshical appearance changes and he even eats paperclips, thats right a whole box.

Enter an investigation team to “help” the family, an they bring Cassidy along to help.  It soon becomes apparent that these guys (except Cassidy) our not doing this for the best intentions.  Don’t worry they get whats coming to them and Cassidy gets the family some real help.

I will say she writes a little differently at times then what a lot of people are used to (but then again how great can my writing be).  There are just time when she uses words not quite the way you would expect.  She also gets a little preachy for me at times, but to each their own we just have different views and it doesn’t deter my enjoyment any less.

Please pick up this book it’s not even six bucks and I’m pretty sure the proceeds go to help the boy the book is about.

Bigfoot, thunderbirds, big cats the list goes on and on.  Cryptids are creatures that have not yet been reconized by modern science.  For years people have been out hunting for evidence of these allusive beings for many years.  There have been a few fuzzy and not-so pictures and videos but never a smoking gun.  No one has every shot a huge thunderbird out of the sky or ran down a Bigfoot on a dark street.  Why is that?  Is it possible that these creatures are just that rare?  There are literally millions of acres of woodland in North America, so if only  a couple hundred Bigfoot in the area exist then it’s possible.

But are there other reasons for these creatures to so hard to track down?

TULPAS

Could Bigfoot simply exist just because people want it too? do the mere thoughts of so many people actually create the creature itself?  That in short is what a tulpa is, creating something from share will power and visualization.  It originated as a Tibetan monk technique.  It is said that the monks could not only make these apparitions appear but they could control them as well.  If the techniques for creating a tulpa do indeed exist many of the creatures in the cryptid world could chalk up their exsintence to being tulpas.

DIMENSIONAL BEINGS

Is Bigfoot or the even the Frogmen of Loveland Ohio simply just residents of another plane of existence?  Perhaps there a places on this earth where different dimensons cross paths.  The question is do they appear in our world or do we pop into their’s?  There are many reports of people not only seeing Bigfoot but seeing Bigfoot just disappear into the ether.  There have also been reports of hunters shooting a Bigfoot and even large thunderbirds.  They are shot at but never seem to hit anything.  Are these guys just bad shot’s or are these creatures not quite in our reality?

GHOSTS

If not beings from a different dimension could these cryptids simply be the ghost of bygone animals long extinct?  The Loch Ness monster is said by many to be a ghost of plesiosaur which still roams the loch.  Even in Australia their are tales of ghostly T-Rex’s in some remote area’s.  Perhaps Bigfoot is just an sprit of out own missing link.  This could explain why hunter’s bullets just seem to pass through Bigfoot or even why people see Bigfoot and other cryptids just disappear.

A lot of researchers in the world of cryptozoology will just scoff at these ideas.  Why?  I have no idea, in a field were no one has any real concrete answers why wouldn’t you keep an open mind about such things.  I’m not really sure how much creedince I give any of these different ideas, but I’m sure not going to just write them off.

Nick Redfern has a new book out!  Entitled Keep Out!; Top Sercret Places the Government Doesn’t want You to Know About.  The book is mostly about all the top secret bases you’ve heard about and a lot you have not.  Of course Area 51 is in there and Wright Patt’s infamous hanger 18.  But that’s not all, Nick get’s into some of the more obscure one’s such as Parton Down in England and most of the world’s 2012 doomsday bunkers.

He cover’s a large number of not just bases but also dabbles in haunted mines and caves as well as the  London Underground.  Not exactly super secret bases but he makes it fit.  There is  one thing that always bugs me about books about the paranormal.  They always seem to have a big section of filler material that is very loosely related to the subject, just to take of space.  However Nick seems to find a way to stay on topic just when you think he’s about to go off the rails.

This book is also available as an Ebook straight out the gate, which makes me happy. I was able to get on my Nook and not have to wait around a couple of months for it to show up as a lot of paranormal books seem to do.  In fact it looks like all of Nick’s books have an Ebook format. Yay!

This book is a great read however you will burn threw it quickly it’s not that long.  Nick will keep you going along, you can’t wait to get to the next chapter to see what local he will be talking about next.  There are however a few places that I was surprised didn’t show up in this book, such as Plum Island, or even the Denver Airport.  Even without this few missing there’s plenty in this book that will soon have you on the internet looking for more information about many of these places.  Maybe that’s how you found your way here.
